New user interface for medical equipment

Implementation of a new GUI to replace a legacy VB6 application.

Role: Software Developer, System Designer

Challenge

A legacy VB6 user interface had to be replaced by a modern GUI without disrupting existing functionality in a regulated medical-device environment.

My role

Software Developer, System Designer. I was responsible for or carried out the following:

  • Development of WPF views using data templates.
  • Design and implementation of a new prototype using WPF/Prism.
  • Unit tests with xUnit.

Solution

Design and implementation of a new prototype in WPF with Prism and MVVM, built from reusable views with data templates and covered by unit tests with xUnit.

Outcome

A modern, testable user interface that could serve as the basis for phasing out the VB6 application.
